George & Bea’s Joy-Filled Bandeoke Wedding at The West Mill
/A 5-Piece Live Band Karaoke Show for 160 Guests in Darley Abbey
The West Mill in Darley Abbey, Derby, was the setting for George & Bea’s brilliant wedding celebration, with around 160 guests joining them in the first-floor bar space for a full 5-piece BEX show. With no raised stage, the performance area kept everything close, lively and connected, giving guests the perfect setup to step forward and sing with the band. There was also a 95dB sound limiter to work with, so we kept things controlled without losing the party atmosphere. Planning a wedding at The West Mill or elsewhere in the Midlands? A 5-Piece Live Band Karaoke Show for 160 Guests in Darley Abbey
This was a classic example of how Bandeoke can work brilliantly without a formal stage. The band set up in the first-floor bar space, keeping the action close to the guests and making it feel less like a “show over there” and more like one big shared celebration.
Access was straightforward too: load-in on the ground floor, lift immediately to the right, then a short walk round the corner to the performance area. That kind of detail always matters, especially at multi-level venues where the evening needs to run smoothly.
Sound-Limiter Friendly, Without Losing the Energy
The venue had a 95dB sound limiter with a traffic-light system, which had been discussed with the client in advance. On the night, we kept the front-of-house volume slightly lower than usual as a sensible precaution, and there were no issues with the limiter cutting power.
That is exactly the balance we aim for: keeping venues happy, protecting the flow of the event, and still giving guests the full live band karaoke experience.
Song Highlights from the Wedding Night
There were plenty of singers throughout the evening, with a great mix of advance requests and on-the-night picks from the main BEX song menu along with choices from our ‘extras’ song menu.
Highlights included:
I’m Outta Love — Anastacia
Man! I Feel Like a Woman! — Shania Twain
Shut Up and Dance — Walk The Moon
Rock ’n’ Roll Star — Oasis
The Best — Tina Turner, sung by Bea
Love Machine — Girls Aloud, with Bea and her bridesmaids
Dancing in the Moonlight — Toploader
The first dance was I’m in Love With You by The 1975, played from playback, and the final disco track was Somewhere Only We Know, requested by George.
Planning a Wedding Like This?
For couples looking for something more interactive than a standard wedding band, Bandeoke for weddings gives your guests the chance to become the singers, backed by a real live band. You can also browse the Bandeoke song menu in advance to get a feel for the kind of tracks that work well on the night.
It is particularly strong for weddings where the couple want a proper party atmosphere, but still want the music to feel polished, organised and professionally hosted.

Client Feedback
George & Bea sent a lovely message afterwards, and their Trustpilot review says it all:
“Worth every penny!
We chose to have The Bandeoke Experience at our wedding. We had an absolute blast! The band were exceptional, and all of our guests gave such positive feedback.
The variety of songs was incredible; it’s amazing how many they are able to do off the cuff. The communication we had leading up to the day was second to none, and nothing was too much trouble.
The band were a huge factor in our perfect day. We’ll be shouting about them to anyone that will listen. Hopefully we’ll have the chance to use them again at another celebration.”
FAQs
Can live band karaoke work at The West Mill without a stage?
Yes. For this wedding, the 5-piece BEX show worked in the first-floor bar space without a raised stage. Though we would typically recommend a stage for 50 guests plus, as long as there is enough performance space and safe access for guests to sing, a no-stage setup can feel really natural and inclusive.
How do you manage a wedding venue with a sound limiter?
We discuss any limiter details in advance, then set up and mix accordingly on the night. At this event, the venue had a 95dB limiter, so the band kept the front-of-house volume slightly lower as a precaution and the evening ran without any sound issues.
Occasionally a venue’s sound restrictions are prohibitive for live music and we will advise accordingly.
Do guests need to choose songs in advance?
They can, but they do not have to. Some songs can be requested in advance from the extras list, while plenty of guests choose from the main Bandeoke song menu on the night. That mix keeps things organised but still spontaneous.
