ZBD’s gaming conference afterparty — back at Colours Hoxton

A Bitcoin-and-gaming crowd, smooth changeovers, and one surprise rap moment

Back at Colours Hoxton in Hoxton Square for ZBD’s gaming conference afterparty, and the repeat-booking story got even better this year. Around 275 guests filled the room for our 5-piece live band karaoke show — and after last year’s extra 15-minute upgrade, the team went bigger again and extended the set time by a full extra 30 minutes. That’s always the nicest kind of signal: more minutes because people want more songs. The venue’s wireless mics this year also helped keep things moving at pace, with fast handovers and zero awkward gaps (so aligned with our standard service).

A repeat booking — and a bigger upgrade this time

ZBD came back for a second year, keen to make this an annual tradition — and the show length upgrade tells its own story. Last year they added 15 minutes; this year they pushed it to 30 minutes extra, which gave us more runway to keep momentum high and squeeze in even more guest singers.

Who are ZBD?

ZBD operate in the gaming/payments space — helping developers build modern game economies where players can earn rewards and enable smooth payments experiences. Their “Build with ZBD” messaging centres on rewarding players with real money and powering next-gen game economies, and their platform leans on Bitcoin payments (including Lightning-network style instant rewards).
It made total sense that their crowd were up for something interactive and high-energy.

Three sets, full sign-ups, and smooth mic handovers

This was a keen bunch — we had no trouble filling all three sets with guest singers. The venue’s wireless mics turned out to be a genuine win on the night: quicker changeovers, less stage “traffic”, and a better flow between songs.
Timing-wise, we were set up and ready ahead of schedule — the only micro-adjustment was waiting a few minutes while the room finished filling (and pizza finished landing). Once the first singers went up, the night just built.

Song moment worth a mention: a guest called “Lose Yourself” (Eminem), absolutely knew it, and it went down a storm.

Planning yours in London?

If you’re building a conference social or afterparty, the biggest ingredients are: a clear performance area, quick mic handovers, and a song list that gives everyone an “I can do that” option.

  • read our reviews (opens in new tab)

(And if you’ve heard it described elsewhere as rockaoke/rockeoke-style live band karaoke — that’s the lane: a proper live band, with your guests as the stars.)

Client feedback

Always lovely when a repeat client comes back and says it even louder the second time.

Second time even better than the first. It was my second time booking these guys and I have nothing but praise for their professionalism, attitude and ability to put on a killer show. Will be booking them again in the future.
