Juliette’s 50th Birthday Bandeoke Bash in Godalming

A 4-Piece Show at The Pavilion by Howling Owl, Surrey

The Pavilion by Howling Owl at Busbridge Rec in Godalming, Surrey, was the setting for Juliette’s 50th birthday party, with around 40 guests packed into the Coffee Shop space for a small-but-mighty 4-piece BEX show. There was no raised stage, just an intimate 5m x 4m performance area, easy no-step access and a room full of friends ready to be persuaded onto the mic. With live music finishing by 11pm in line with the venue’s residential sound plan, the energy still had time to build beautifully. Planning a Surrey party? Get in touch to check dates.

A 4-Piece Show at The Pavilion by Howling Owl, Surrey

The Coffee Shop space at The Pavilion was a great fit for this kind of birthday party: compact, warm, close to the guests and ideal for making the show feel personal rather than staged.

There was no formal stage, but the available 5m x 4m setup area worked well for the 4-piece band. Access was straightforward too, with no steps, which always helps keep the setup calm and efficient before guests arrive.

Because the venue sits in a residential area, the evening also needed to respect the agreed sound management plan. Live music was due to finish by 11pm, with any recorded music winding down by 11.30pm, and everything ran smoothly on the night.

From Juliette’s Welcome to Full-Voice Singalongs

Before the first set, Juliette wanted to say a quick hello and encourage everyone to sing, which was exactly the right tone for the evening. A little nudge from the birthday host can make a huge difference, especially with a smaller crowd.

Once the first singers stepped up, the room relaxed into it. Our band leader described it as a lovely crowd and a lovely venue, with everyone looked after well and the timings working nicely — even with a little extra time possible on the night.

Song Choices That Fitted the Room

There was a great mix of advance requests and on-the-night favourites, including:

  • Wrecking Ball

  • Ironic

  • Sk8er Boi

  • Teenage Dirtbag

  • Back for Good

  • Rolling in the Deep

  • What’s Up

  • What Makes You Beautiful

  • Wannabe

  • Dancing Queen

The younger guests getting involved with What Makes You Beautiful and Wannabe was a lovely touch, and the main menu choices gave the night that classic BEX mix of big choruses, guilty pleasures and “I can’t believe I’m actually singing this” moments.

Planning a Birthday Party in Surrey?

For a birthday party like this, the most important ingredients are a willing host, a room that lets guests feel close to the band, and a song list with enough crowd-pleasers to tempt people onto the mic.

Client Feedback

Juliette’s feedback captured exactly what we hope for with a smaller private party: guests feeling brave enough to sing, then talking about it all the next day.

I booked Bandeoke for my 50th Birthday Party. Wow… where to start. From the moment we were in contact you were incredibly helpful. We had the most amazing night; the band were absolutely phenomenal. The standard of music was so high and you were so generous, encouraging and just lovely in your approach. My phone did not stop the following day with guests saying they had the best time and they couldn’t believe they sang. When I look at the photos and videos, people are oozing pure joy. I cannot thank you enough. We are still all buzzing and looking for reasons to book you again — does a 51st count?!

FAQ

Can live band karaoke work without a stage?

Yes. For smaller parties, no stage can actually help the show feel more inclusive. At this event, the 4-piece band worked comfortably in a 5m x 4m area, with guest singers stepping up close to the band rather than feeling exposed on a big stage.

How do you handle sound restrictions at venues in residential areas?

We work with the venue’s timing and noise requirements, keep levels sensible, and adapt if the venue asks for changes. For this Godalming party, live music needed to finish by 11pm, with guests leaving by 11.30pm, and the evening ran smoothly.

Can guests request songs in advance?

Yes. Some songs can be requested in advance from our extras list, while the main BEX menu is available on the day. For this party, advance choices included Wrecking Ball and Ironic, alongside on-the-night picks such as Sk8er Boi, Teenage Dirtbag and Rolling in the Deep.
