Ken’s 50th birthday party at The Imperial Crown Hotel, Halifax
/170 guests, a 5-piece Bandeoke Experience — plus surprise sax and a “Nirvana” moment
Ken’s 50th birthday at The Imperial Crown Hotel (Halifax, Yorkshire) was exactly the kind of night we love — a full room, big energy, and loads of enthusiastic guest singers ready to go. We brought our 5-piece show for around 170 guests, keeping everything tight and punchy from the first tune, with quick changeovers and a steady flow of sign-ups.
The cherry on top? A brilliant guest sax cameo (Ken’s niece) and an unforgettable “Nirvana” moment that had the whole room roaring along. If you’re planning a birthday party and want live band karaoke done properly, drop us a message to check availability.
A packed Halifax hotel space, set up for maximum momentum
The Imperial Crown Hotel provided a great fit for a full-throttle birthday party: plenty of bodies in the room, a clear focal point for the “stage” area, and that buzzy atmosphere where everyone’s already in the mood to celebrate.
We ran our usual streamlined setup and kept the sound dialed-in throughout — the kind of night where the band can stay locked and the guests feel confident stepping up.
Guest singers, costumes… and proper headline moments
This wasn’t a “wait till later” crowd — people got involved quickly, and once the first singers smashed it, the sign-up energy took care of itself. Costumes helped too: the room had that fancy-dress permission-slip vibe where everyone’s up for it.
A couple of standout moments from our bandleader Dave’s debrief:
Ken’s niece jumped up as a guest sax player and absolutely nailed it — a genuine value-add moment.
A Kurt Cobain lookalike plugged into the rig for Smells Like Teen Spirit… and yes, it went off.

Client’s feedback
Here’s what Ken shared afterwards on Trustpilot:
“Hired these guys for my 50th birthday party. I wanted to give everyone a party to remember and get the whole party bouncing from the start. The Bandeoke Experience provided this in abundance. Ross and the team were slick and professional in every element of planning and delivering the experience from start to finish… Go for it — you won’t regret it”
FAQs
How does sign-up work on the night (and how do you keep guests confident)?
We run a simple sign-up system, then our compere/singer guides guests clearly: what’s coming next, how to start strong, and how to own the chorus. The band stays supportive and the room energy does the rest.
Can you include guest musicians (like sax or guitar) in a Bandeoke show?
Yes — when it’s planned (typically in-advance) sensibly. If a guest musician is competent, and has their own instrument, we can often make it work with a quick line-check and clear stagecraft so it feels like a feature, not a faff.
How much space do you need for a 5-piece live band karaoke setup?
As a rule of thumb, we want enough room for a reasonable band footprint plus a clear front-and-centre safe spot for guest singers (5m x 3.5m is a good starting point). If space is restricted, we can usually adapt — we’ll advise based on your room layout and access.
